![]() ![]() Which is probably true, but ya know, language and culture barriers. ![]() ![]() The worst I've heard about DDLC is that there are existent japanese VNs that have done the same thing, better, years ago. Complaining about media targeted at other demographics, and toxic masculinity like that. I suspect anyone who thinks otherwise has about as much experience with VNs as a teen boy complaining about romance novels has with those. They wouldn't if it was just plain mean spirited. ![]() Furthermore, DDLC's explicit criticisms are pretty obviously directed at idealized, fetishised porn games a rather small minority of VNs indeed (if not a small minority of games actually localized outside of japan).Īll the VN fans I know who played the game liked it. They're good examples of the thing in question. When it comes to parodies/similar things, if they're worth their salt they don't just take a shit on things they're parodying. It's not like terribly many people would care about this game if it didn't actually do these things that other VNs don't do. I don't think a game that is defined by its nature being completely subversive of the genre it's part of is gonna have any chance at doing so. A free romance game available on PC and Mac The Literature Club is full of cute girls. ![]()
